Counting Days...

Well, its official. We have ten days to go until Jake arrives! We went to the doctor today and yes- he is still breech. He's cozy as a bug in there and not moving (at least not yet). I'm off work now, which has been wonderful. Its nice to not be in and out of the car all day in 98 degree heat with my HUGE SWOLLEN ankles- or should I say cankles. So unattractive. The swelling has gotten increasingly worse, and the reflux is a nightly routine. I am certain all this is worth it, but for now-it just sucks. :)

The nursery is nearing ready. I ordered some super cute letters off of Etsy.com, but the "J" came in broken. So, we're waiting for the replacement to arrive. I don't think it appropriate to put "ake" up on his wall....do you?

I met with the photographer this week. We're going to have his newborn pictures taken the week he comes home. I know-- this sounds crazy-- but this is how she works. I have had several friends do the same thing, and they all survived. I just kept thinking to myself-- what if he starts screaming and I have no idea what to do. This photographer is going think....who in the world let this woman leave the hospital with a child! So, like all new mommies would do- I invited my mother to come along. She can either help me make him stop screaming or distract the photographer long enough for me to run! :)

Greg is starting to get a little anxious. Every morning I tell him how many days we have left. He starts to sweat- I swear. Not because he doesn't want this little guy here, but because he is so nervous! He keeps giving me the same story.... "what if I need to go to the bathroom, and you're not here-- what will I do with Jake?" I guess he thinks fatherhood means never going to the bathroom again? Okay, so I asked him-- who put this concern in your head? (Because seriously, I have heard him worry about this on more than one occassion). John Garner. Yes, John Garner told him that....so, thanks Garner-- you have Greg believing this is the last week he'll ever be able to go to the restroom again!

So, no real pictures to post this week, so I'll just put some in from random moments. I know how boring posts are with no photos! Keep you posted.....

My friend, Erin, with her little girl, Reagan. Erin is expecting her second- a little boy - in September.
Greg with his nephew, Caden. They had been playing ball in the front yard for a while and whether Caden looks it or not- he was having a great time! :)

4th of July and More...

Happy (late) 4th of July to everyone! Greg and I are so thankful for the troops overseas serving our country, and all the men and women who have served in the past. We celebrated the 4th at Petit Jean Mountain for Greg's cousin's wedding. Kristy married James in a beautiful outdoor ceremony.

We also went to a neighborhood 4th of July party and had a blast. Our neighborhood has this party every year-- food and drinks, fireworks and about 20 kids running crazy with sparklers!

As for Baby Jake, he is doing great. His nursery is almost ready for his arrival and he is kicking like crazy-- he must be ready to get out of there! He is due to arrive in 19 days...but who's counting?? :)

Lots of Updates...

Well, its been a few weeks since I've updated the blog and there is lots of news....

First, we picked a name! Our son will be named Jake Spence Veazey. We love it! Jake is a name both of us have liked from the beginning, and Spence, for those who don't know, is my maiden name. Greg also likes that Jake will have the same initials as he and his dad--- JV.

I also had two showers since the last post. Some ladies in my hometown had a shower for me in Marion. I had a great time--lots of close friends and family came and I got so many wonderful gifts. I continue to be amazed at how generous people are to expecting new moms. My Novartis co-workers also had a shower for me! There are lots of moms in my Novartis group, so on top of great gifts-I always get some great advice too!

All three of us are pregnant and only weeks apart!

We also went to my friend Rob's wedding. Rob is a friend from high school and married a great girl from Searcy - Amy Jones. Their wedding was beautiful! Of course, it was outside, so it was a little warm, but Amy looked amazing. By far one of the prettiest dresses I've ever seen! Its always great to see all our friends together....its few and far between these days, but that's what weddings are for, huh? We also used the weekend to celebrate Jay's 30th birthday! Jay is another high school friend.

And lastly, we have a birth date for Jake! Our doctor decided a c-section was in order this week, so Jake is scheduled to be here on July 28. Jake is breech right now and not likely to turn. So, for now- that's the plan. Of course, this could all change if he decides to flip! So----- as of today, 23 days until Jake arrives!

Several people have asked me to post pictures of the nursery. Its not quite ready yet, but getting there soon. I promise to post pics of Jake's room in the next couple of weeks! I do have a picture of the bassinet we plan to use. My mom and dad bought Jake a 100 year old bassinet and have redone it for Jake to use! It is beautiful and the bedding my mom made is so cute!

Mom and I with the bassinet. I wish I would have taken a picture of the bedding too!

7 and half more weeks!

Its really hard for me to believe, but I have about 7 and 1/2 weeks left until our little guy arrives! I've spent most of my free time lately preparing for his big debut-- ie, shopping, cleaning, organizing and just generally FREAKING OUT! We had our first baby shower this weekend! I feel so fortunate to have such wonderful friends and family to share this time with! I've included some pics of the shower below. I got some GREAT stuff - all of it very much needed. Its amazing what all a baby requires/needs.

Greg and I went for our 3D/4D ultrasound on Friday. Our parents all drove in to see the little guy as well. BUT-- he just wasn't interested in having his picture made yet! I was so disappointed, but the clinic is going to let us try again this Friday. Let's hope he gets moving before then! Right now, he's still head up and hiding under my ribs! According to my mother, I was not a bashful child, so I'll be shocked if he's camera shy! :)

Opening gifts!
Kelly and Sam at the shower. Sam is getting so big and is still so, super cute!
Our cousin, April, gave me this great basket of toys and books! She picked out all things her son, Jack, loved!
Alyson and I pose while Helen learns to work my "mom camera!"
My wonderful friend Helen and yes, my face is HUGE! Pregnancy=swollen face!
Brooke Hauk and her little anglel, Baylor!
Amy Aukes, her sweet son Lane, and April Veazey

The hosts! (L to R) Helen, Alyson, me, Tabitha and Brooke! Thanks guys! I had a great time! Not picture- Lindsey Woodard. Lindsey was off soaking up rays in Mexico, but was very missed at the shower! Thanks for helping, Lindsey!
