7 months and counting

I can hardly believe my "new baby" is now almost 7 months old! Jake is changing so much every day. The Friday before Valentine's Day, Jake started clapping. He isn't doing it all the time, but he likes to show out from time to time. He is still saying "Heeeyyyy," and it is so stinking cute!

As for all the other baby stats people ask...

*Jake sleeps through the night almost every night. He goes to bed at 7:30 and sleeps until about 7:00 a.m. We're LOVING THIS!

*He takes four bottles a day and eats baby food twice. We're trying new things all the time, but to be honest- he doesn't care for any of it! He'll eat whatever, but not much excites him! You'd think being the 20 pounder that he is, he'd love to eat. :)

*He sits up great and rolls around when he's on the floor playing. He has shown some interest in crawling. His little legs get going, but he just can't get up enough to get on the move. Trust me..I'm not rushing it! :)

*He favorite toy - the DJ Walker. Its a walker that looks like a DJ booth. He scoots all around the kitchen "jammin out!"

*Jake takes short naps in the morning and usually one long one in the afternon. I'm sure Nana loves that afternoon nap--- I do!

*Jake's temperment is WONDERFUL! Everyone who keeps him brags that he's such a good baby. I, on the other hand, wonder.... does this mean he will be a WILD 2 year old? :)

*Still sitting pretty with two teeth. He acts like he's getting more, but I dont' see any white poking through just yet.

*Bath time=FUN TIME! Jake loves to splash in the water and play with his ducks. I think he's going to be a great water baby!

Jake has his first social outing next weekend. We're invited to not one, not two, but THREE birthday parties on the same day! We are so excited about the parties and this new era in our lives. Jake loves being around other kids, and I know he's going to have so much fun next weekend!

Greg and I are both doing good. We're working alot and staying really busy. Greg's playing basketball at church and a, soon to start, city league. I'm looking forward to the city games, so Jake and I can go cheer Daddy on! Church ballgames start at 8 p.m., and well....we're in bed.

I'm going to New Jersey in March, so I'll be leaving the little guy again. NOT FUN. But, Greg is a great daddy and is in complete control. I'm a lucky gal!

Wild hair! Greg decided to put a little hair paste in Jake's hair! It was hillarious!

Bathtime!

I left the house around 9 this morning and headed to Searcy. By the time I left Searcy -- around 12:30, all of central Arkansas was covered in snow! I slid my way back down 167 to Cabot and nearly ran off the road walking distance from my house. Two nice men, whom I do not know, got behind my car and pushed me back on my way! Needless to say...we stayed put the rest of the day! By 5 p.m, we had 8 inches of snow and are expected to get more.

I was scheduled to fly out to New Jersey tomorrow for work, but that doesn't look likely at this point. So, I enjoyed my snow afternoon and hung out with my two favorite guys!

Jake and I took a long nap on the couch, watched two movies, played in the floor, talked to Nan and Pappaw on the webcam and took a long bath! I've never posted any bathtime pics, so there are a few below!

Look at all that hair!!!

"Heeeyyyyy"

So, I am saying that Jake has said his first word... its "heeyyyyy." When we say "Hey," he repeats it back. Now, he doesn't do it all the time, but he does it about 40% of the time. SO, I'm claiming it! :) Of course, when he says "momma," I might change my mind and say that was his first word!

He also knows his name! You can say, "Larry, Mike, Tom" and he doesn't look. You say, "Jake" and he looks right at you! He's a genius baby, I know! :)

Jake had his 6 month check up today and is doing great. He's 19.5 pounds and 26.75 inches long. Big guy!! He's happy and health, and we're feeling pretty dang lucky! His shots today were, of course, no fun. But, Jake was a trooper! He cried while she was giving them, but was smiling seconds later.
He has two teeth now and is completely facinated with them. He'll rub his tongue over them and play with his mouth constantly. I'm not sure, but I think he might be getting number 3 right now. He'll have a mouth full before we know it. He's also sitting up on his own. We still put pillows around him, just in case, but he does really well by himself.
He also LOVES Roxy, our golden retriever. Everytime she comes in the room, 100% of his attention is focused on her. She's a great dog and lets him pull on her when he wants. He chases her down when he's in his walker...its pretty adorable.
Here are a few pics of Jake from the last few weeks...

6 months already!

As of January 28, Jake will be six months old. Time has flown by!!! It feels like he should still be itty bitty! Jake has been a busy little guy these last couple of weeks. He has mastered sitting up by himself and can do it for about 5-8 minutes at a time. He is also cutting his first tooth! He loves to put his hands straight out to his side when he's excited...kinda like he's prepping for something major! Gettin' his balance! :)

We've been so busy around here that the weeks are really flying by now! I'm heading to New Orleans next week from Tuesday until Friday night. I'm so nervous about being away from Jake so long, so please say a prayer for me....and Greg! :)

I thought it would be fun to put some 1 week pictures and some 6 month pictures to compare his size! He's now 19 pounds (as of Wednesday). Greg and I are madly in love with our little guy and you can see why in that second picture! Who wouldn't love that smile!
Jake at one week!

And Six months later...
