And Baby Makes 4!

Yes! You guessed it – Jake is going to be a big brother!  Greg and I found out we were expecting number 2 about 6 weeks ago.  It was a surprise to both of us, but obviously – we couldn’t be more excited!  I had actually gone to the doctor for a nasty cold, but Dr. Merrick wanted to do a quick pregnancy test before prescribing an antibiotic.  It took me MONTHS to get pregnant with Jake, so I thought – “NO way.”  Well, about 15 minutes later, he walked in and shook my hand.  Wow. I came for an antibiotic and left with a baby!!!   Looks like my due date is Feb 13, 2012, but I’ll have he or she a little earlier, because of it being my second c-section.

In other news, we’re busy planning Jake’s 2nd birthday party. I still can’t believe it, but he is going to be 2 in a few weeks.  It really does seem like we were JUST watching him learn to walk.  I remember the first time he took off across the living room.  Thankfully, I was recording with my cell phone!!

Happy 4th of July!

Well, we celebrated 2 things this weekend! First, and most obvious, our country's freedom. We certainly celebrate the freedoms we enjoy, but also the men and women who put their lives on the line to defend those freedoms. Since moving to Cabot, we've met many military families. ALL of which are incredible people with a heart for service...of all kinds. We're so lucky to be surrounded by people who inspire us to be better Americans, Christians and parents.

The second celebration was that GREG IS HOME! He's been gone for two weeks and got to take a break from training to come home for the holiday. Greg got home around 9 pm on Friday night and less than 12 hours later we were on the road to Hot Springs. We spent the next 3 days on the lake and enjoying the sunshine and our family. Jake is getting more comfortable with the water with each visit and this time even did a little pretend swimming. We had a great time and LOVED having Daddy home. He leaves tomorrow morning at 6:30 am for another two weeks. BOOOO...but the training is going great and he is loving his new job! And that, my friends, is worth the 7 weeks of "single-mom'n it."

Here are a few pics from this weekend...

I love this picture...look at Greg!
A little stop at Chickfila to play in the AC
This boy LOVES their playground. When we pull into the parking lot he starts screaming "PLAY!"
And they say Jake doesn't share!
He and Roxy are such great friends...well, actually, Roxy tolerates him and Jake LOVES her!

May and part of June!

Its been a while since I've posted. Mainly because I just haven't had the time, but secondly - my blog was a little messed up and I had to be bailed out. :) Big thanks to "Distinctly Pink Designs" for fixing the blog and getting me all pretty!

The last few weeks have been filled with time at the lake, playing outside and new jobs! As a reminder, I took a new job as a manager and NOW Greg has a new job with Boston Scientific. Sadly, Greg leaves for training for 7 weeks, so Jake and I will have to hold down the fort here without him. I'm sure we'll spend lots of afternoons playing on the slide and with sidewalk chalk - Jake's favorites!

Jake's been a busy little guy lately- learning something new everyday. Lately, he's become a lot better at saying "please" and "thank you." Don't get me wrong - we still have to do the ole "what do you say??" parenting trick, but he's coming along. He's also ON THE MOVE all the time. He loves to run around outside, climb on his play gym and chase Roxy. He is soooo much fun and constantly amazes me at what he knows how to say and do!

He has a couple of "funny faces" that he does on a routine basis, but I can't get him to do them when I want to take a picture! I'm still working on that... He has a "flirty/bashful" look that just cracks me up. We here around the Veazey house call it "The Look." So cute!

He's turning 2 next month, and I just can't believe it. It feels like I JUST brought him home! We're still kicking around ideas for a birthday party, but I'm sure we'll come up with something fun...and of course, post pics later!

Jake's end of the year WeeCare program - he's the farmer in the middle!

Ravioli is definitely one of Jake's favorite foods right now! Messy, but GOOD!

Easter 2011

And he said to them, "Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him. Mark 16:6

We had a wonderful Easter holiday. We love our church family and all their children. ALL THEIR CHILDREN. Ha!

Greg and I had nursery duty this Sunday and had 8 two year olds. FUN!!! We actually do enjoy keeping the nursery and playing with all the kids. I'm so grateful our church has such a big children's group, because I know Jake will grow up knowing so many friends from church!

After church, we went to Carlisle to spend the Easter holiday with Greg's family. We ate well (my mother-in-law is a GREAT cook) and played outside all day. Jake has some super sweet cousins who love him dearly! All this beautiful weather makes me ready to hit the lake this summer!
