Wonder Place

Greg and I decided to skip the lake this weekend and just hang out around the house. So, we planned to go to Little Rock on Saturday and do a little shopping. Well, first - Jake slept until 9:50 am! (we woke him up -- no telling how long he would have slept!)

At the last minute, we decided to check out The Wonder Place. My friend, Tabitha, had given it rave reviews. Well - Jake LOVED it! He was climbing on everything and making new friends. Of course, as I have mentioned in other blog entries, Jake is socially agressive! He likes to just crawl right up and put his hands all over other babies--mostly their faces! I have to stick pretty close so that I can pry him off them when they start screaming! :)

Here are a few pics of our little guy having a blast at his new favorite spot! The first few are of Jake playing with a new friend. When we first arrived there were three ladies there with their kids. One was a little girl 2 months older than Jake -- but you can see here, Jake is twice her size! She was a little, petite asian baby!

Here is their first meeting. This is before Jake squeeled with delight and scared her to death!

Here's Jake flirting with all the women....he LOVES being the center of attention!

She's warming up to him here...but at a safe distance! :)

So, these pictures are in reverse order...but you'll see they show him climbing through a little hole in the play area. He was so proud of himself for getting through it!

Right before we left, Jake made another friend. This little boy is just days younger than Jake! They hit it off pretty good....see below!

We had a wonderful Saturday....hope you did too!

Oh, the blessings He brings!

Last year at this time, right before I gave birth to Jake, I felt so blessed. I knew motherhood would be wonderful. Now, a year later, I realize just how blessed I am! Jake makes everyday better than the last! God has truly blessed us beyond measure! Praise Him!

Memorial Day Lake Fun!

Hopefully everyone enjoyed the long weekend as much as we did! Friday night, we had a cookout at home with our neighbors. Greg grilled up some good burgers and my neighbor, Stephanie, made an awesome dessert! Saturday morning, Greg and I took Jake to Riverfest to see his nieces, Morgan and Madison, dance. These girls are incredible dancers and always impress me! After Riverfest, we went to Hot Springs and hit the lake!

Jake slept for a while on the boat and spent about 15 minutes in the water. He liked it okay, but definitely wasn't crazy about it! Sunday, we spent most the day at the pool. Jake was still a little hesitant, but by the end of the day he was loving it! I'll admit - I had about 18 layers of sunscreen on the little guy!

We left in a hurry Sunday around 6 p.m. We were trying to get home in time to get Jake in the bath and bed. So, as usual, when you're in a hurry - things always go wrong! About 30 minutes into our drive home, Jake had a MAJOR diaper blowout. #2 covered his carseat, clothes and legs! UGH! So, Greg and I had too pull over on the interstate and clean him off. We were OUT of baby wipes! So, we made do with beach towel, antibacterial wipes and bibs! The funny thing is...Greg and I were both stressed and grossed out - Jake, on the other hand, was laughing the entire time! I'm sure the cars passing by got a nice little chuckle out of the situation.

AHHH...home now and waching a movie! Fun, but very busy, few days!

Vacation, crawling and new teeth!

Its been a while since I've posted anything new, so this will just be a "catch-all" post. First, Jake is crawling! He started crawling a few weeks ago, but I was too busy chasing him to blog about it! He's also started pulling up and even tried to stand from the crawling position a few times. CRAZY! I know its so wonderful that he's reaching these milestones, but its so sad too. He's growing up very quickly.

Speaking of growing up.... we had his 9 month check up (actually did it at 10 months). He was 23 pounds, 8 ounces and 30 inches long (tall?). He is in the 90th percentile for height and weight. I'm guessing this assures his spot on the 2027 Razorback football team! :)
Jake also has a few new teeth! He now has both his front two top teeth, his two front bottom teeth and one eye tooth. He is quite the biter now!! Ouch!

Jake and his Pappaw Spence

In other news, Greg and I just got back from a wonderful trip to the Bahamas. We went with our good friends, Jared and Lindsey Woodard. It was so nice to just lay around and relax for a few days...but I missed Jake so badly! BUT - contrary to what I believed, he loved it and survived just fine. He got to spend some much needed quality time with both sets of grandparents and my brother and his family. We're so lucky to have such loving family close by to watch him when we need help or a break.

Our friends, Jared and Lindsey

First night on vacation

Eating at Twin Brothers in Nasseau. This is a place the locals call "The Fish Fry." Great food and local atmosphere! We had a blast!
Atlantis! We didn't stay here, but we visited for a day. This place is incredible! A casino, aquarium, water park, restaurants, dolphins, etc...all located at the resort! Wow!
Us enjoying our "Anniversary Dinner.' Both couples were celebrating an anniversary - us 5 years and the Woodards 2. So, Sandals prepared steak and lobster and a special anniversary cake! Greg and Jared set it all up as a suprise for Lindsey and I!

The view from our room - WOW!

This is me touching a starfish at the Atlantis aquarium.

So, for those of you who don't know Lindsey - she is a rock star by night and ad exec by day!

Since my last post, I also got to see an old college friend, Krystal, and her husband and son. I haven't seen Christian since he was born last year (a week before Jake), because Krystal and her family live in Finland...yes- the North Pole! Krystal was in the states for a few weeks visiting her family, so we got to meet up in Little Rock and let the little guys play!

Not the best quality picture (iPhone), but you can see Krystal and I with our sweet boys!

Wedding bells have also been ringing - our friends Alyson and Stuart got married last weekend. Greg went to high school with Stuart and was his fraternity brother in college. Alyson is a friend of mine from my early days in Little Rock. They have been together since Greg and I started dating, so this wedding was a long time coming! :) All joking aside- they are such a sweet couple and perfect for each other. It was a beautiful outdoor wedding right on the river in Memphis. We had a great time ....heat and all!

Alsyon and Stuart's engagement picture - done by Sarah Bussey. GREAT picture!

Greg, Jake and I are headed to the lake this weekend. Jake's first Memorial Day lake vacation! I'm sure the lake will be packed and crazy, but we're going to take the little guy out for a little while anyway! I'll post pics of that when I return.
