Picnic in the "big park"

Cabot added a new play area to their park. There is a terrific pond and picnic area, so I decided to take the boys Wednesday night. I picked Jake up from school and surprised him with his first real picnic.
Greg has been out of town all week, so it was nice to just be out of the house!
Jake loved it and can't wait to go back!

Grand Slam weekend

Last weekend, we met two of my college roommates and their families in Memphis for a ballgame and a trip to the zoo.   My friend, Katy, has a little boy Jake’s age (John Parker) and a little girl Eli’s age (Reese).  Sarah has a 5 year old boy (Drew) and a 1-1/2 year old girl (Anna Cate).   While we decided to leave the two little babies with grandmas, it was still a wild weekend with lots of kids!

Friday night, we met at the Peabody in downtown Memphis to let the boys see the ducks make their march from the fountain to the elevator.  To be honest, the boys were less than impressed! ha!

Afterwards, we walked over to Autozone Park to see the Redbirds play. The boys has a BLAST at the game!  I got to visit with my two college roomies/sorority sisters, and the guys got to hang out and do most of the kid-chasing!

Sunday morning, we met at the Memphis Zoo and spent about 3 hours checking out the animals. The kids even took turns riding a camel!

We had a great time catching up and letting our little ones play.  It seems crazy to me that we all have two kids now, because – honestly – there are days it feels like I was just in college.  I am so lucky that I made such great friends in college, and while we don’t talk every day or even every week – we can pick up right where we left off!  I love these girls and their families!

And in Eli news--- he is 3 months old! WOW!  Eli is sleeping through the night and doing really well with his head/neck control.  He is a very sweet baby and is happy and calm about 95% of the time.  He smiles so sweetly when Jake is talking to him, which – obviously – melts my heart!

The Big Slide

Jake had a big day today! I took he and Eli to the zoo with my friends Tabitha and Helen and their little ones.  Sadly though, there were also about 50 kindergarten classes there too.  So, it would be an understatement to say it was crowded!

I immediately put both boys down for a nap when we got home. Eli slept for 4 hours and Jake slept for 2.5.  Guess they were as tired as I thought!

Greg came home early and I got to get my nails done. YEA! Then, we all loaded up again and headed to the Cabot Strawberry Festival. To be honest, its as grand as it sounds --- (insert sarcasm). BUT, they did have a few rides Jake wanted to try, so we spent about 20 minutes there and then went out to eat.   But, I have to include these pictures.  This is a gigantic slide at the festival.  Greg asked Jake if he wanted to try it, thinking he’d say  no. But, Jake was all for it.  So, Greg rode with him.  Needless to say, once was enough!  You can tell by the look on his face that he wasn’t up for a second try.  Afterwards, he said – “that made my belly hurt!”

Eli’s 2 month checkup

Eli is almost 11 weeks old. So, we’re a little behind on the 2 month post.  His appointment was delayed a couple of weeks.

Eli is a complete joy!  He is a good sleeper and officially started sleeping through the night on a regular basis at 9 weeks.  He still takes 2 long naps a day and a short 3rd one.  He smiles all the time and is starting to “talk” a lot more.  He loves it when I say “mama” to him over and over – in my goofy baby-speak voice of course!

I didn’t realize it, but I call Eli “sweet boy” all the time.  Jake has picked up on that and will lean over and whisper “hey, sweet boy!”  **melt my heart**

As of 10-1/2 weeks, Eli weighs 13 pounds and is 22.5” long.

With the weather being so warm, we decided to head down to the lake last weekend.  Jake LOVED being on the boat and kept asking Greg to “go faster!”  Greg’s parents stayed Friday night and Saturday, so Greg and I had a date night and had some free time without the boys on Saturday.  It was so nice to just layout on the boat and sleep!  ha!

We also took Jake to his first crawfish boil this weekend.  Jake didn’t partake in the crawfish eating, but he did fully enjoy the company and toys!  Our friends, The Moore’s, hosted the party and have the best yard for it. They live in a great neighborhood in Cabot with some pretty fun neighbors.  All the kids ran and played for hours!

It was “parking lot duty” again this Sunday, so Jake – being the good helper he is – helped Dad with his job at church.  I bought Jake a yellow shirt to wear like all the men that serve on this committee.  Jake takes candy to hand out to church goers and felt obligated this Sunday to YELL across the parking lot – “Hey, you want some treats??”
