Birthday week!

Jake has been counting down the days until his birthday- literally.

We started the celebration earlier this week with a trip to Magic Springs! Today- we surprised him with his name on the sign at Sonic. It's the little things, folks! This kid was PUMPED to recognize his name on the sign this morning!

A Day Off with Jake

Typically, I am off on Tuesday and Thursday with Eli. But, I decided to take Eli to school on Tuesday and take Jake to Magic Springs! Our cousin, April, brought Jack- her 7 year old.

Jake and Jack had a great time! We left quickly after about 3 and 1/2 hours, because of a thunderstorm, but it was plenty of time to master "the big slide" and jump some waves in the wave pool.

Sisters are for Life

In May, a dear friend's sister-in-law had a massive stroke. Ellie is a 29 years old, beautiful young woman. Healthy. Happy. Successful. No one knows why this happened or what to expect. By the grace of God, Ellie has made miraculous steps in recovery. She continues to fight the good fight.

Ellie is a sorority sister of mine from ASU. We were- are- both Alpha Gamma Deltas. A few fellow AGDs put together a 5K for Ellie. What started out as three young ladies rallying our sisters around Ellie turned into 600+ registered runners, $40,000 and an entire small town -my hometown- cheering Ellie on! Wow! In four years of college- with pep rallies, intramural sports, homecoming events--I was never close to this proud of my sorority!

Along with the race, I was also able to spend some quality time with some of my dearest friends! We took our kids to a Memphis Redbirds game and just enjoyed being with each other. I don't see these ladies much, but when I do we pick up right where we left off!

We rushed back to Cabot Saturday afternoon for a going away party for The Theisings. Erika Theising moved to Arkansas four years ago with the military. Her and her husband, Frank, grew from their family of barely three to a family of five while they were here. Erika and I have shared laughter and tears over the past four years. From the joy of having a baby, to the emotional exhaustion of a newborn, to potty training, sibling fighting, studying God's Word and just being a young mom. She has been a sister to me in many ways. She and Frank are moving to Alabama this week and will be missed dearly. I will secretly pray God brings our paths back together some day! :)

We wrapped up the weekend the way many suburban families do... Backyard birthday party, complete with a blow up slide and water balloons.

It's been a WILD weekend, but one that reminds me that we have been abundantly blessed with friendships that last a lifetime.
