Dallas, day 2

We celebrated Christmas with my Dad's side of the family today. My uncle Jackie and Aunt Cheryl hosted the shindig at their beautiful home in Dallas. They have an amazing outdoor kitchen, so we spent most the day out there. Imagine that- Christmas and we are in short sleeves enjoying a patio.

Once the party was wrapping up, we decided to head over to The Gaylord Texan to see the ICE exhibit! Jake had soooo much fun, and I was able to carry Eli in a harness to keep him warm. It was 7 degrees in there!!!

Kind of funny looking- I had Eli in a carrier under my parka!!

Santa made of ICE!!!!

Ice slide Jake slid down by himself!!!

Fun times had by all in the Big D!!! Naps and descent sleep have been pretty much out the window since we pulled out of the driveway in Cabot- but hey--- life is short! It's meant to be savored!

Dallas trip 2012

My dad's side of the family rotates Christmas every year. This year, we headed down to Dallas! I was a little nervous traveling such a long way and coming right back with two little ones, but there is lots to do and we made plans to cram it all it!

We left Friday morning early, but we made a two hour stop at Chikfila in Texarkana. The idea was to "wear them out" so they would sleep the rest of the way. FAIL!!!!!

Jake did make a friend though. This little girl is TOUGH! She let Jake rough-house with her and laughed the whole time. When we were leaving, Jake looked at me and said -"wait...I need to tell my girlfriend bye!" He got lots of "awwwws" from the other moms in the play area! Cutie!

Well, as I said - major fail on the sleeping front. So, we resorted to me sitting in the back with the kids playing "entertainer" for 2 hours. I swear- Jake asks SOOOOO many questions!

Friday night, we went to LegoLand and to dinner. Jake and Eli both enjoyed Legoland!

We had a fantastic dinner and headed back to the hotel to ride the "alligator." (Jakes term for elevator). The kids both got in bed really late... But fun times were had by all! In fact -Maybe too much fun!

More on the rest of the trip soon!

The Bible through Jake's Eyes

Jake makes us laugh just about every day with something he says or does... as I imagine most parents of three year olds would say. Tonight, I was reading to Jake before bed. In true three year old fashion, he asked approximately 1,000 questions about the first book. Our standard routine is for me to read the book first and then Jake "reads" it to me. After I finished, Jake said "I don't know this one. I will pick another book out for me to read." (ie-one he has memorized). He chose his little picture bible book.

Here's Jake's interpretation:

God made the whole "earf."
He said "it is bery good."

Adam and Eve ate an apple they weren't supposed to. They made a bad choice and that snake is mean. They didn't wear any clothes. But, the kids in the pumpkin book can eat apples. Jesus said ok.

Noah built an ark. It rained for 40 days and he put all the animals on the boat. He got all the animals off when the rainbow came. According to Jake- the animals used a big slide to get of that boat.

The girls (Pharaoh's daughter) found the baby in the water. They weren't mean girls.

Jesus gave Moses the rules on that mountain. He said to be nice and don't say "poo poo" unless you need to potty.

Jesus told the people to march, march, march. Then there was a hole in the wall. (Wall of Jericho)

Goliath was a BBIIIGGG giant. David had five rocks. He used one to beat Goliath. David's not scared.

Baby Jesus was born in a manger. Three boys brought him presents, but they aren't Santa.

John was Jesus' friend. He put him in the water. They had their clothes on so they will get dirty.

The End.

It's a magical time of year

Between the Christmas lights, the Elf on the Shelf and the countdown to Christmas Day... My little Jake has just been overwhelmed with the magic of it all!! He exclaims..."LOOK, MOM" every time we pass a house lit up with Christmas lights! I love it!

Saturday, I caught both boys laying under the tree laughing!

We are headed to Dallas this weekend and hope to squeeze in a visit to the Gaylord Hotel. It's bursting at the seams with Christmas this time of year, so Jake should be in awe!
