Meet Jake!

The greatest gift I could ever receive arrived Tuesday, July 28 around 8:30 am! Jake weighed 8 pounds and was 21.5 inches long. For now, he has light brown hair and blue eyes.... he is quite handsome, but then again I am a little partial. Jake was a breech baby, so he arrived via c-section. Greg got to see it all and was quite the trooper. The surgical team named him "picture guy!" He ran back and forth between Jake and I the entire time- ensuring I got to see Jake immediately. I will always be grateful for those pics!

Since we've been home, things around the Veazey house have been quite different! No more---just going to bed! Bedtime takes about an hour and ironically only lasts 2-3 hours.... then, its back up again! This tiny guy requires ALOT of food! But, despite all the change, we feel so blessed!

So, you might ask...what has Jake been up to? Well, besides eating, pooping and sleeping-- not much! He has had a constant stream of visitors--- which we are thrilled about! He has been endlessly loved on by our families, and he has been to the doctor a couple of times! He has also made trips to Target, Kroger, Starbucks, Babies R Us, and the photographer. Yes.... at 2 weeks of age, he has had his first photoshoot! The first of many I am sure (see note above about being handsome!) :) Dad got to have his pics taken first with Jake and Mommy is so glad. Jake pooped and pee'd on Dad in the first 5 minutes... oh the joy of taking pics with no diaper on!

Jake loves his daddy and the fact that he is the best swaddler in Lonoke county! He also loves when his daddy lets him chew on his nose! Jake has loved his bouncy seat from day one and is slowly coming to like the swing. He will sleep in his bassinet...IF you agree to feed and swaddle him first. He smiles alot and has the hiccups nearly every day! All in all, Jake is a great baby...but then again, I am partial. That's what 39 weeks of pregnancy will do.

I am posting some pics of Jake's first 2 weeks. He is two weeks old today! Happy birthday, baby boy!

My niece made Jake this FROG. (Fully Rely On God). We kept it next to Jake while he slept!

This is my reaction after hearing Jake cry for the very first time! It was awesome!

Life is so tough! :)

Getting oh-so close!

Greg and I went for our last doctor's appointment on Thursday morning, and Jake was--- of course--- still breech. So, we're still on track to have him via c-section on Tuesday morning. Greg is getting a little anxious, so we decided we'd go tour Labor and Delivery after the doctor's visit. We got to see where to go, what the room will look like and talk to a nurse about everything that will happen. I could see the relief on Greg's face! He felt better having a little more information. I can't blame him! I'll admit it...I liked it too!

We've got all of Jake's stuff ready to bring him home, so we're just watching the clock tick at this point. I feel so blessed to have had such a great pregnancy. Don't get me wrong- the swelling these last two months has been ridiculous, and I'm only sleeping about 3 hours per night...but in the grand scheme of things, it is so worth it. Its hard to believe we'll be parents in just a few short days. Greg and I have been truly blessed by God to have been given this miracle, and we can't wait to share him with the world!

In other news, Greg is finishing up flag football season. We watched him play quarterback last night, and he did great. I can't wait to be able to run around myself! :) He'll play in a softball tournament the second weekend in August, so that should be fun too. The team he plays on won this tournament last year. I told him Jake and I would make every effort to be there cheering him on...as long as its not 95 degrees outside!

My mom made Jake this sweet little outfit to wear home from the hospital. I just LOVE IT!

The day of my last doctor's appointment -- T minus 4 days! You like that swollen face, don't you??? :) I'm standing in Jake's nursery. I love the paintings-- got them from Swan's in Marion.

Practice Makes Perfect

I know...I just posted something new, but here I go again! Tonight we went to Jay and Brooke's house to cookout and hang out with the cutest little baby every - Baylor! Greg got some great baby practice tonight courtesy of Baylor Hauk. He got to practice holding him, wiping up spit up and playing! It was great! I'm posting some pics of the two of them and Baylor- who by the way is so sweet and smiles ALL THE TIME! He must have great parents! :)

I swear-- he smiled like this for three hours! So sweet...

Counting Days...

Well, its official. We have ten days to go until Jake arrives! We went to the doctor today and yes- he is still breech. He's cozy as a bug in there and not moving (at least not yet). I'm off work now, which has been wonderful. Its nice to not be in and out of the car all day in 98 degree heat with my HUGE SWOLLEN ankles- or should I say cankles. So unattractive. The swelling has gotten increasingly worse, and the reflux is a nightly routine. I am certain all this is worth it, but for now-it just sucks. :)

The nursery is nearing ready. I ordered some super cute letters off of Etsy.com, but the "J" came in broken. So, we're waiting for the replacement to arrive. I don't think it appropriate to put "ake" up on his wall....do you?

I met with the photographer this week. We're going to have his newborn pictures taken the week he comes home. I know-- this sounds crazy-- but this is how she works. I have had several friends do the same thing, and they all survived. I just kept thinking to myself-- what if he starts screaming and I have no idea what to do. This photographer is going think....who in the world let this woman leave the hospital with a child! So, like all new mommies would do- I invited my mother to come along. She can either help me make him stop screaming or distract the photographer long enough for me to run! :)

Greg is starting to get a little anxious. Every morning I tell him how many days we have left. He starts to sweat- I swear. Not because he doesn't want this little guy here, but because he is so nervous! He keeps giving me the same story.... "what if I need to go to the bathroom, and you're not here-- what will I do with Jake?" I guess he thinks fatherhood means never going to the bathroom again? Okay, so I asked him-- who put this concern in your head? (Because seriously, I have heard him worry about this on more than one occassion). John Garner. Yes, John Garner told him that....so, thanks Garner-- you have Greg believing this is the last week he'll ever be able to go to the restroom again!

So, no real pictures to post this week, so I'll just put some in from random moments. I know how boring posts are with no photos! Keep you posted.....

Greg with his nephew, Caden. They had been playing ball in the front yard for a while and whether Caden looks it or not- he was having a great time! :)
